Growing tree seedlings
To plant trees, we need to create a tree nursery. To create and maintain a tree nursery, we need a lot of water to water the seedlings. Infrastructure facilities will also be needed to maintain the tree nursery.
For the cultivation of certain types of trees, the entire territory of the stationary nursery is divided into a number of specialized production departments: sowing, tree-shrub, fruit, protected ground, cuttings, maternal department. Some tree seedlings may be open to the sky, some may be shaded.
In the sowing department, 1 - 2-year-old seedlings of tree and shrub species are grown for plantations and senior departments; in the tree department, large-sized tree saplings are formed for forest plantations and for landscaping settlements, estates, roads and ponds; in the fruit department - grafted seedlings of fruit trees for setting up gardens; in the closed ground department, planting material is grown in greenhouses; in the department of cuttings seedlings - seedlings from winter cuttings are germinated.
For ease of maintenance, we can locate a tree nursery on the shores of Lake Argyll or on the irrigated lands of Kununarra.
